Woodfold Manufacturing, Inc. was established in 1957 and operates from a 160,000
square foot manufacturing facility in Forest Grove, Oregon. The company's
four main product lines consist of Accordion Doors, Hardwood Shutters,
Roll-Up Doors, and Bookcase Doors for both residential and commercial installations.
Every Woodfold door is custom-made and features an exclusive steel hardware hinge system. Woodfold Accordion Doors can be found in offices, restaurants, hotels, churches, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, retirement housing, public housing, health care facilities, as well as individual residences. They are distributed through commercial distribution channels in the United States and Canada. Woodfold shutters are sold to the residential market through high-end window fashion retail outlets.
The growth of Woodfold necessitated a new accounting system. A DOS version of ACCPAC was being used along with Quicken for the checkbook register and modified accounts payable.
After evaluating several software products and companies, Navision and MASI were chosen. Mark Lewis, President of Woodfold explained that the product wasn't the number one priority. He said, "It was the people at MASI. I believe that all relationships boil down to a people issue. Then, all the products work out."
"When a customer calls here, they will get an answer. That answer relies
on what's inside Navision. We needed a system that's up and giving us that
information. That's what we were sold and it's been true," said Mark.
"The best thing about the system is that it's customized to meet our needs." Order entry has been performed manually at Woodfold since the beginning. The four product lines each have different specifications and the Navision order entry screens are being produced to have the same prompts as the written order forms. For example, the order entry screen for interior wood shutters will show measurements, color, rail size, window opening size, type of opening, and other pertinent information. "We added the items we needed, eliminated the ones we didn't need, and made it very easy to use. You can even repeat a previous line with one keystroke. Our system allows us to grow without increasing staff."
"MASI has been great to work with, and the speed and accuracy of month-end processing has been greatly improved," remarked the client. "Month-end reports now take an hour and a half compared to almost five hours in ACCPAC, and all day to do one report manually."
